Working Groups

Join a Strategic Working Group!

We have identified twelve policy and activism areas where members have shown an interest in making a difference.  These are the Strategic Working groups and some of the issues they'll be covering.

  • Protecting and Advancing Voting Rights - Gerrymandering and redistricting, voting suppression laws and practices, and other voting rights issues
  • Racial Equality -  Black Lives Matter, affirmative action, and criminal justice issues
  • Gender Equality - Reproductive rights and LGBTQ issues
  • Healthcare -  The ACA, Medicaid, Medicare, Pharmaceuticals, Women's health issues, and Disability Rights
  • Veterans Issues -  VA services and benefits
  • Firearm Safety - State and local regulation of firearms
  • Immigration, Refugees and Our Borders - Immigration laws, deportation practices, DACA, refugee standards, and the "Wall."
  • The Environment-  State and federal protection of the environment, pipeline construction, and leadership of the EPA
  • Education -  Protecting the US Department of Education, college debt, tuition free tech schools in SC, school voucher issues, disturbing school laws, and education of students with disabilities
  • Fair Wage and Economic Opportunity -  Living wage, minimum wage, workplace discrimination, leave policies, workplace safety, and unions
  • Federal Budget Cuts and Block Grants- Protecting programs whose funding would be eliminated or substantially reduced, including programs for the arts, legal services for the poor and Violence Against Women; developing regulatory and funding standards for federal programs for which states will be given responsibility under block grants
  • Faith-based Outreach - Working with religious leaders, churches, and individuals to build a network of progressive people of faith
We envision these working groups as largely autonomous arms of our larger group.  Working groups will meet, research their topics, network with existing organizations, plan actions, and then feed back their information and targeted actions to the main group.

  1. Michelle Edgar recommended that I contact Sarah McBride. I'm from Grand Strand Action Together looking for support for our Stop Gerrymandering effort. Sarah please respond 978-726-3040. Thanks
